Business Challenge

The existing Genesis website required a complete redesign to lift its look and feel. The removal of any bottlenecks associated with updating site content was also of importance, as was empowering non-technical users to contribute content that conformed to corporate standards.

An additional objective was to increase communication with all stakeholders to facilitate enhanced service delivery to customers via the internet. To achieve this processes needed to be streamlined and non-technical staff needed to be empowered to take ownership of their web-content.

In summary some of the challenges Genesis faced were:

- The need to implement a system that would support a complete redesign in terms of the look and feel of their site including leveraging the latest rich internet technology such as Flash based ColdFusion forms.
- The needed for a tool with an easy-to -use interface, simple enough for non-technical users to learn with minimal training.
- The need for workflow processes that would force approvals on appropriate pages, while quickly publishing others.
- The need for a cost-effective package that offered all of the appropriate tools to create and maintain a dynamic website.

    Solution

    Shado CMS Content Management System.
Shado’s easy-to-use interface, ease of management, workflow functionality and cost effectiveness provided Genesis with what they needed without interrupting the business processes they already had in place.

    Results

The implementation of Shado CMS has enabled Genesis to achieve consistency in branding and style that is easy to maintain. This consistency is ensured by the use of cascading stylesheets that dictate a limited number of font, colour, heading options etc, for a given web page. This ensures branding consistency by restricting the number of style options an editor can apply to a page to only those that support the organization’s branding. This enables staff to easily maintain corporate branding standards.

Non-technical staff can now author, submit, edit, review and approve site content using a skill-set comparable to basic Microsoft Word. This saves Genesis time and money.

The Genesis website site now features a wide range of easily updatable information ranging from energy generation and environmental material through to media and financial statements and community and charitable activities that Genesis are involved in.

Importantly the new site is fully capable of accommodating the company’s current needs whilst providing flexibility and scalability for future growth.
